I’m Tatyana—owner and head trainer at Canine Karma Training NJ!
Animals have been the heartbeat of my life for as long as I can remember. Born in England and raised in Washington Heights and Harlem, the city’s rhythm taught me resilience and drive, but animals were always my calm. They’ve been my teachers—gentle, wise souls helping me grow, heal, and connect deeply with myself.
From a young age, I found purpose caring for animals. I started riding horses early, trained under former barrel racers, joined 4-H, and competed in barrel racing and show jumping. Later, I led trail rides through Central Park and cared for horses daily—learning to communicate through energy, timing, and intention.
But it was Bu—my heart dog—who changed everything. He brought me home to myself. After moving to New Jersey, I worked at a high-volume boarding facility where I saw too much control and not enough understanding. I knew there had to be a more compassionate way to train and connect.
That realization led me to veterinary medicine, where I became a veterinary technician, working in general practice and emergency care. I studied anatomy, nutrition, and holistic health—grounded in science but guided by intuition.
I trained Bu daily, immersed myself in canine behavior, nutrition and psychology, absorbing every resource I could find.
When I lost Bu to lymphoma, it cracked me open but gave me clarity. I went back to school, got certified through Animal Behavior College, and pursued a life-changing mentorship.
That path led me to Canine Karma Training, apprenticing under trainers whose values mirrored mine: relationship-based, emotionally intelligent, rooted in trust and respect. Their guidance helped me bring science, spirit, and soul together.
Now, through Canine Karma NJ, I work with dogs of all ages and backgrounds—from puppies to complex behavioral cases. Meeting every dog with patience, compassion, and deep understanding. I guide humans to become calm, confident leaders so their dogs can feel safe, seen, and understood.
I’m also Advanced CPR Certified, Fear Free Certified and an approved AKC CGC Evaluator—with over 10 years of experience handling animals of all sizes, from small to large.
My approach is relationship-centered. I believe animals are spiritual companions—not just to be trained, but to teach us how to lead with love, presence, and clarity.
